Amy Elizabeth Presenter

NEWS AND CURRENT AFFAIRS

Awarded ‘Services to international Media’ from the Pakistani Education Ministers for her work across Asia, Amy is able to robustly address global issues, despite a temperamental climate.

Initially presenter of a daily 60-second news update for global television station DM Digital, Amy became their News Anchor; delivering 30-minute reports twice daily.

A live location reporter throughout the 2010 General Election process at Manchester Town Hall, Amy was one of the first journalists to question MP Caroline Flint on the expenses scandal.

Investigative journalism saw Amy go undercover with police teams – resulting in a commendation from Greater Manchester Police for her services to public welfare.  Amy also worked with the BBC Radio 1 Documentaries Team, producing a project to mark the five year anniversary of the 2011 London Riots.

Amy was approached by BBC News at the beginning of the pandemic to launch a podcast to support disabled people. 'Isolation Diaries' ran for three years and was commended by BBC News Director Kamal Ahmed as 'one of the most important thigs to come out of the pandemic'.

Whilst working with the BBC News, Amy pitched, produced and hosted podcasts on alcohol dependency and artificial meat production. A significant amount of time was spent producing for daily podcast Newscast and assisting in the wider BBC coverage of HRH Queen Elizabeth II passing.

No stranger to high risk situations, a documentary on children’s education in Pakistan required the protection of four armed guards at all times. Amy also spent two months working with children in Kenyan slums and improving education standards whilst living with a local family.

Whilst in Asia, Amy hosted a live televised topical debate on western education, which included contributions from Pakistani officials. This lead to invitations from six leading Pakistani universities to give speeches on the importance of equality and education for women.
